In the popular musical about Alexander Hamilton, the main character sings about persistence--not throwing away his shot at success. For K-6 students, reading instruction that includes effective phonics and word study instruction can play a critical role in their shot at later achievement in reading, writing, and literacy. This session will provide professional training that targets lessons and activities for phonics instruction and word work along with strategies and accommodations for instructing the dyslexic reader in the general classroom. Participants will walk away with lessons that are Monday-morning ready.
